My Journey
Nutrition

A brief account of my personal experience and what led me to study Nutrition and why I intend to continue to study it.

As a young girl about 12 years old, when your hormones are about to change, you expect your tiny body will change a lot, but I found that wasn’t the case. In spite of the fact that I was approaching my 13th birthday, it still appeared that nothing had changed; on the contrary, the more sports I played, the smaller I became. My body shape had not changed as I approached the end of my eighth grade and turning 14, it seemed the change would never occur, as time had gone on. I became more aware of my small frame, and I had experienced enormous bullying. As the ninth grade began, the nurse weighed me and I weighed only 75 pounds, a very small frame which led her to ask me whether I had been mistreated by my parents since I was too small for my age. As I answered her, “No, I have been small all my life,” she added, “Tell your mother to feed you more food.” This brought me to tears in the bathroom. During this high school experience, the bullying became more aggressive than it was during middle school.

How did I cope with rejection and bullying? In the case of DNA, the genetics play a very important role. Genetically gifted in the most special ways, a truly defined athletic person. I loved all sports and there was no denial to it. I believe God has gifted me with such a tremendous amount of talent that I could not be overlooked. In order to be able to play in all sports within this academic year, I studied as much as possible in order to increase my grades. Essentially, I am a natural athlete. That’s just genetics, I don’t have to do anything to enhance abilities. During my high school years, I discovered I was born with a purpose and capable of playing any sport. Furthermore, it provides an incentive to study with more determination, how can I eat to maintain weight and not burn all my food while participating in all the sports?

Reflection of God’s DNA
As time passes, my determination continues to strengthen. As a gifted individual, I was born to recognize my potential, talents, and purpose lying before me. As a 19-year-old, I began searching for opportunities to study and while searching, I eventually discovered (Ectomorph body type)
The ectomorph body type is one of three types determined by genetics. In order to approach any type of nutrition or training program, it is important to understand your body type.

A person’s genetic makeup accounts for 100% of who they are. Well, let’s begin with Psalm 139:1-18, in which King David sang a song of praise to the Lord, enabling us to see our true identity, DNA.
You have searched me, Lord, and you know me.
You know when I sit and when I rise; you perceive my thoughts from afar.
You discern my going out and my lying down; you are familiar with all my ways.
Before a word is on my tongue you, Lord, know it completely.
You hem me in behind and before, and you lay your hand upon me.
Such knowledge is too wonderful for me, too lofty for me to attain.
Where can I go from your Spirit? Where can I flee from your presence?
If I go up to the heavens, you are there; if I make my bed in the depths, you are there.
If I rise on the wings of the dawn, if I settle on the far side of the sea,
10even there your hand will guide me; your right hand will hold me fast.
If I say, “Surely the darkness will hide me and the light become night around me,” even the darkness will not be dark to you; the night will shine like the day, for darkness is as light to you.
For you created my inmost being; you knit me together in my mother’s womb. I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful; I know that full well.
My frame was not hidden from you when I was made in the secret place, when I was woven together in the depths of the earth.
Your eyes saw my unformed body; all the days ordained for me were written in your book before one of them came to be.
How precious to me are your thoughts, God! How vast is the sum of them!
Were I to count them, they would outnumber the grains of sand—
when I awake, I am still with you.
